I've been gone a while. I started reading fanfiction to escape and I got sucked in an abyss.

I have no idea if someone else is hosting similar challenges. I just grabbed some of what I have hosted before.

Here's to a happy year of great reading
Jan2023: Not much has changed. Writing a fanfiction now O_o as well as reading but I bought 7 new books in December and hope to get those read soon. Crossing fingers about adding challenges (late!)

  • Our book weeks begin on Sunday.
  • Participants may join at any time.
  • All books are acceptable except children books.
  • All forms of books are acceptable including e-books, audio books, etc.
  • Re-reads are acceptable as long as they are read after January 1, 2016..
  • Books may overlap other challenges.
  • Create an entry post linking to this blog.
  • Sign up with Mr. Linky in the "I'm participating post" below this post.

RC: LGBTQIA

LGBT books challenge
LGBTQIA
2016

hosted at Pretty Deadly Reviews
for more information and to sign up, click here

Basically read books that have a main character that is LGBTQI or A. Not sure what I'm talking about? That's okay, I looked it up. I knew the LGBT part - Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender. The QIA part I didn't know - Queer, Intersex and Asexual. I thought Q was questioning but I read that many people who don't "adhere to sexual and/or gender norms use" Queer in a positive light.

I have a few mainstream books that fit this and while I also have a library of m/m shifter romance, she wants reviews! I'm going for RED and hope to read and review 5 books.

First Book of 2016 will be . . . .

1st a

Sheila, has a sign up post and if we take a picture and send it to her, she'll add it to the collage. So I've been thinking of what book to start the year off with. My list suggests that a Christmas book would be a good idea. My pile of review books suggest this too ;-)

1011: The Christmas Clock by Kat Martin
2012:  Christmas Haven by Hope White
2013: Wicked Gift by Sean Michael (as in a kinky Christmas gift)
2014: Christmas in Snowflake Canyon by RaeAnne Thayne
2015: Purrfect Protector by SA Welsh (darn, not Christmas)

What book have I decided to read first? What Happens Under the Mistletoe, a four story anthology. These are Regency romances and one of the authors is a favorite ;-)

1-12-16: I was wrong. The first book I started was Winter Wonderland by Heidi Cullinan. I wasn't able to finish it until now. I started it while at Disneyland for New Year's and kept forgetting to transfer it over to my laptop from my phone. I did get a picture of me reading my laptop but will have to transfer it over later.

The first book I was reading was on my phone and the first book I finished was on my laptop. Both ebooks so I figured the picture works.

The Night Before the Night Before Christmas by Natasha Wing
picture book, 2002, paperback

It's December 23, and Christmas is just around the corner. But one family is having trouble getting its act together.

There's a whole series, all following the rhythm of Clement Moore's classic.

Animal Attraction by Paige Tyler
Alaskan Werewolves, 2014-revised & expanded, ebook

Not only are werewolves real, but they're damn hunky, too.

Frustrated when none of the real newspapers will hire her as a reporter, Eliza Bradley takes the only job she can get—at a paranormal magazine. Her first assignment takes her to Fairbanks, Alaska to investigate the rumors that a werewolf has killed two local men.

When she meets Hunter McCall, a local college professor and an expert on wolves, she finds herself irresistibly drawn to him and ends up spending more time in his bed than worrying about werewolves. That’s when Eliza finds out Hunter isn’t just an animal in the sack, he’s an animal out of it, too—of the werewolf variety. Talk about a complicated relationship.

But Eliza can’t dwell on Hunter’s little shapeshifting issues for long. There’s another werewolf out there with a taste for human blood, and she and Hunter are the only ones who can stop him. If they don’t, they’re likely to become his next victims.

Merry Christmas, Mouse! by Laura Numeroff
If You Give, 2007, board book

Join Mouse from If You Give a Mouse a Cookie as he decorates his Christmas tree in a holiday counting adventure

It Happened at Christmas by Debbie Mason
Christmas, Colorado, 2014, ebook

Love is the best Christmas gift of all.

Free-spirited activist Skylar Davis is out of money and out of options. After using up her trust fund trying to save the world, she hides out in Christmas, hoping the kindness of friends will help her forget the reckless actions of her past. All goes well . . . until she comes face-to-face with one of her mistakes: the town's gorgeous young mayor.

Ethan O'Connor likes his life drama-free and predictable now that he's about to make the move from small-town politics to the Colorado State Senate. Then Skye blows back into town, as impulsive and passionate as he remembers. If word ever got out about their night together-the night he's never been able to forget-the scandal could cripple his career. Yet as he starts his campaign, Ethan finds that, like the town of Christmas itself, he can't get Skye out of his head . . . or his heart.

One Enchanted Christmas by Melissa Tagg
inspirational romance, 2015, ebook

Last December, mystery author Maren Grant had the most perfect night of her life. On a glimmering winter evening, she got to watch the photo shoot for her very first book and ended up on a magical date with the cover model himself—Colin Renwycke.

Fast forward one year. This December, with a looming deadline, restless spirit and her creative spark long since gone, Maren is desperate to get unstuck. And she can’t get Colin out of her head…or his year-old open invitation to spend a couple weeks writing at his family’s farm.

Drew Renwycke never planned to come home and take over the Renwycke family farm. But he’s spent too many years watching his siblings unravel, including his brother, Colin, after one terrible family mistake. If moving to Maple Valley, Iowa, renovating an old farmhouse and switching careers is what it takes to put the Renwycke family back together, he’ll do it.

But his simple plan upends when a scrappy author lands on his doorstep. And she just might be the key to coaxing his brother home. But what if he wants her all to himself? Drew will have to choose between his Christmas wish and the enchantment of a holiday romance that just might be the happy ending they all long for.

Fearless by Devon Hartford

When she crosses paths with a handsome tattoo-clad bad boy, her life is turned upside down, and Samantha finds herself with more adventure than she ever dreamed possible.

She hopes using local fresh dairy and her own flavorful imagination to cook up one-of-a-kind fudge will also create a brand-new start for her. And if she can tempt wealthy ex–film star Rainetta Johnson to try her newest creation, Cinderella Pink, at a local fund-raiser, maybe her road to big-time success will be short and sweet.

But when Rainetta chokes to death on a stolen diamond hidden in the fudge’s fluffy depths, Ava is pegged as the prime suspect. Now saving her business and reputation means investigating a batch of townspeople who had numerous reasons to hate disdainful, hard-bargaining Rainetta. With Ava’s best friend and her former flame in the suspect mix, she must figure out who the real culprit is fast or face a very bitter end.…
