Thoughts on...Red in the Flower Bed

You've adopted a child but now they want to know why their skin doesn't match yours! This book tells the story of a flower seed on their journey to a new bed. The colorful scrapbook-type illustrations and the wonderful poetry tell the story simply for a small child's understanding while not being too simple for an older child. You may still get the "why couldn't I stay where I was" question because "it's too dry" may not cut it for the older children.

I may not have been an interracial adoptive child but I'm sure all of us need the comfort of 'this is the best place to plant you'. The author being an adoptive parent is just an added bonus.


I did post when I received this title (and others) and I received a "thank you for reviewing" comment from the person who sent me the book as well as the author. I always planned to finish it with it's own post and publishing details (cover!) I just never did. Better late than never?
