I've been gone a while. I started reading fanfiction to escape and I got sucked in an abyss.

I have no idea if someone else is hosting similar challenges. I just grabbed some of what I have hosted before.

Here's to a happy year of great reading
Jan2023: Not much has changed. Writing a fanfiction now O_o as well as reading but I bought 7 new books in December and hope to get those read soon. Crossing fingers about adding challenges (late!)

You Need More Sleep by Francesco Marciuliano
Humor, Sep 2015, hardcover (small gift size)

Our feline friends have spent eons observing, napping, pondering, napping, and taking notes about the human condition. In between naps, they've realized that we humans could use some catlike guidance when it comes to handling the ups and downs of life. In this book they've condescended to share their invaluable wisdom in short advice columns such as "Always Stay at Least 30 Feet from a Loved One" and "Never Let Anyone Dress You." Whether it's coping with romance, surviving a social gathering, or clawing your way to the top of the corporate ladder only to realize you can't get down, the cats in this book will have you relaxed and ready to take on the world! Just after one more nap.

Studs and Stilettos by Bev Pettersen
Romantic Suspense, Nov 2014, ebook

Emily Murphy isn’t afraid to swap her fancy wardrobe for a borrowed pair of barn boots. Working on the set of a Kentucky movie might be just the ticket to landing a real acting job and proving to her sister she can accomplish something worthwhile.

Dan Barrett knows a lot about hard work and even more about horses. And while he’s drawn by Emily’s beauty and pluck, he wants a stay-at-home ranch girl. But fighting their attraction is difficult, and soon they both realize that what they thought they wanted isn’t what they really need.

Unfortunately, Dan isn’t the only person watching Emily. And the other one is a ruthless killer determined to keep an old secret buried.

Organized for Murder by Ritter Ames
Organized Mysteries, Feb 2014, ebook

Kate thought she and her family were making a fresh start in her husband's hometown, but she quickly learns that small towns can hold big secrets.

When her first client is poisoned just after Kate leaves her mansion, she knows she's gotten off to a bad start. But things only get worse when the police find Kate's fingerprints on the murder weapon, suddenly putting her in the position of suspect number one. The stopwatch is ticking for Kate to prove she had nothing to do with the murder, and the odds are further stacked against her when items stolen from the Nethercutt mansion start showing up in the McKenzie home. Now, Kate must trust her methodical skills and expert eye to sort out who is trying to frame her and to find the real killer before she's organized right into a jail cell.

The Brande Legacy, by Alicia Hope
The Brande Legacy, Mar 2013, ebook

While holidaying at Lorienne castle, Claire-Rose Brande becomes embroiled in an age-old mystery that touches her life, and her heart, in more ways than one.... Does she dare expose what lurks in the shadows? Can she really put an end to an age-old wickedness? And what does a holiday flirtation hold in store for Byron McAlister, handsome co-owner of the castle?

Mysteries swirl wraith-like within the castle’s walls, chilling all they touch. Are they imprisoned beneath the stone battlements forever, or will love triumph over the darkness, the deceit ... and the bitterness?

Island Getaway by Jenna Bennett
An Art Crime Team Romance, Oct 2012, ebook

When Annika Holst's father dies, it's up to the young librarian to carry out his last will: to take his ashes back to his hometown, medieval Visby on the Swedish island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea.

But no sooner does the plane touch down in Stockholm, than the bag with the cremains goes missing. A young American named Nick Costa comes to Annika's aid... but can she trust the handsome stranger? And what of Curt Gardiner, another young man from “back home,” also visiting his mother’s native Sweden?

To catch a murderer, recover her father’s ashes, and find a missing Viking treasure, Annika has to put her trust in one of them. But the wrong choice could mean not only the loss of her heart... but of her life as well.
