I've been gone a while. I started reading fanfiction to escape and I got sucked in an abyss.

I have no idea if someone else is hosting similar challenges. I just grabbed some of what I have hosted before.

Here's to a happy year of great reading

2019 Reading Challenges I've signed up for

I had such a hard year for 2018, that I think my challenge list will be shorter. I've got to get into the swing of just plain reading first. At least reading something with an ISBN! After that, I'll still have the problem of getting all the reviews done or reading to met specific requirements!

I hope to complete at least one of my reading challenges this year!!!

I'd love to re-read The Cat Who series which I think counts for catnip all by itself. Plus the huge tbr pile of books that fit right in, I could go for catnip. On the other hand, it's been while since I read something with an ISBN so,
I'm going for purring and hope to read 1-10 books.

          2019RC Where are You Reading?

          Where are You Reading?
          2019

Hosted here at Book Dragon's Lair

This one is all about places. There's one about states but this one counts cities, counties, and fictional locations too. Read a book set in a location for each letter of the alphabet. West Virginia only counts for W, Bowling Green only counts for B, but the Pern series by Anne McCaffrey that is on a fictional planet counts as P ;-)

You don’t need a blog to participate. Feel free to link to a Goodreads shelf or another public profile where everyone can see your books.

There is one hard rule, one just for general courtesy, and several guidelines. There are no levels, unless you want to do a second set of letters.

          Hard Rules
The book in question must have an ISBN or equivalent. If you can buy it or borrow it, it counts

          General Courtesy
When you sign up in the linky, put the direct link to your post. That way we can find it.

          Guidelines
          • You can list your books in advance or as you read them. You can also change your list.
          • Any format, any genre or length of book counts but it must be the complete book, individual books in a collection do not count separately
          • Anyone can join, you don’t need to be a blogger, just let me know in the comments.
          • Reviews are not necessary but a list of books you read is. There will be a link up for reviews if you wish to post them. You can make a list of books you want to read and change them if you'd like.
          • Crossovers for other challenges count
          • Books started before January 1st, 2017 don’t count - unless you start over ;-)

          2019

          Hosted here at The Lair

How many pages can you read this year?

This challenge isn't about how many books you read but rather how many pages. After all, it isn't fair that I might read 4 titles and another might read 2 titles but we've read the same number of pages!

There is one hard rule, one just for general courtesy, several guidelines and eight levels.

          Hard Rules
          • The book in question must have an ISBN or equivalent. If you can buy it or borrow it, it counts - which just means that all those on-line serials I read don't count ;-)

          Saturday, December 22, 2018

Well, it's been an interesting year!

I was introduced to FanFiction late in 2016 and it quickly sucked my soul into an abyss that I am just seeing the exit of... barely, in the distance.

Just in time for the doctor to call that the biopsy came back cancerous. How do you tell your family that the week before Christmas? I'm not. I've got a consultation next week to talk about options then I'll share.

And since less than 1% of my family even know about my blog (they won't tell right?) and I'm sure no one is checking in anyways....

I needed to say something! My husband went straight into panicking-can't-think-about-anything-else mode so I'm "staying strong" for him.

So, now that I can see the end of the abyss, I'm thinking about reading challenges. Yeah, nothing like getting a head start, snort.

Give me a couple of days, I've got fudge, brownies, and cookies to make for Sunday. Oops, that's tomorrow!!!
