I've been gone a while. I started reading fanfiction to escape and I got sucked in an abyss.

I have no idea if someone else is hosting similar challenges. I just grabbed some of what I have hosted before.

Here's to a happy year of great reading
Jan2023: Not much has changed. Writing a fanfiction now O_o as well as reading but I bought 7 new books in December and hope to get those read soon. Crossing fingers about adding challenges (late!)

This challenge is all about reading mysteries that have cats as the main characters. I'm hoping to unpack my Cat Who series and re-read it this year. Of course this isn't the only series of cat mysteries I have and if I can put my laptop down long enough I could be covered in catnip!

2019 Read My Name Reading Challenge

Read My Name
Reading Challenge

Hosted by SMS Nonfiction Book Reviews

To sign up click here

Challenge runs from January 1 to December 31

GOAL: Read books with your first, middle or last name as an author name, character name, place name or is about someone of that name. You choose your goal # of books.

This challenges goes from Jan 1, 2019 to Dec 31, 2019 and includes all types of books (audio, ebooks etc), rereads are fine and you can choose books as you go or ahead of time. You can overlap books with other challenges. It’s okay if you started a book before Jan 1 as long as you finish it in 2019.

To clarify:
  • You can use your first, middle and/or last name and may include nicknames if you so choose.
  • You don’t have to use the same name for each read or in the same way.
  • You can use maiden and/or married names if you have both.
  • The names don’t have to be spelled the same. e.g. Meagan can read books by a Megan or a Meaghann.

Let's see, my mom called me GiGi as well as Gina Marina so there's two names to choose from. I don't think a high school nickname from one friend counts (it's been YEARS). I do have an easy choice as Dick Francis is a favorite author and my last name is Francis ;-)

So, how many books? Six but only because it's been over a year since I've read much of anything that had an ISBN.

2019RC Three in a Row

Three in a Row
Reading Challenge
2019

Hosted by me, here at The Lair!

This is a new one for me and I think it's pretty simple. Read three books in a row that are from the same series or have the same author. For example, Anne McCaffrey has several series so I could read three books from one series or one book from three different series as long as she's the author.

Guidelines are pretty simple.

1. Choose a Level
  • Picture Books: 1 set of 3
  • Middle Grade: 2 sets of 3
  • Teen: 3 sets of 3
  • Adult: 4 sets of 3
2. You may move up a level but not down.
3. You don’t need a blog to participate. Feel free to link to a Goodreads shelf or another public profile where everyone can see your books.
4. Reviews are not necessary but a list of books is. There will be a link up for reviews if you wish to post them. Edit: a list of books read ;-) You can make a list of books you want to read and change them if you'd like.
5. All formats allowed as long as the book has an isbn or equivalent and can be purchased/borrowed, the book counts.
6. Short story collections count as long as they're all the same author
7. Crossovers from other challenges count
8. Books started before January 1st, 2019 don’t count.

Twelve books doesn't seem like a lot but it's the "in a row" part that might mess me up!

2019 Reading Challenges I've signed up for

I had such a hard year for 2018, that I think my challenge list will be shorter. I've got to get into the swing of just plain reading first. At least reading something with an ISBN! After that, I'll still have the problem of getting all the reviews done or reading to met specific requirements!

I hope to complete at least one of my reading challenges this year!!!
