I've been gone a while. I started reading fanfiction to escape and I got sucked in an abyss.

I have no idea if someone else is hosting similar challenges. I just grabbed some of what I have hosted before.

Here's to a happy year of great reading
Jan2023: Not much has changed. Writing a fanfiction now O_o as well as reading but I bought 7 new books in December and hope to get those read soon. Crossing fingers about adding challenges (late!)

N is for National Holidays
I'm in the U.S. so those are the holidays I'm mentioning. The thing is, I'm not going to talk about the usual holidays, I want to be a little different.

According to Holiday Insights, today is National Librarian Day. They weren't able to find out anything about the day and there were no congressional records or presidential proclamations stating April 16 to be National Librarian Day.

Here's a fun one, and after the stress of getting our taxes mailed in (US), we could all use a little fun. National Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day, the website has lots of great pictures including an officer on horseback and a reporter.

National Day Calendar wants to give us reason to #CelebrateEveryDay

There is a list of about 5 things for every day in April plus the month long celebrations. National Soft Pretzel Month was mentioned and I found an article at examiner.com that includes a recipe. Yummy!

National Donate Life is also mentioned and it is official. NDL is all about organ donating, click here for more information.

edit: April is also National Autism Awareness Month but I didn't know what to say about it. I found this video on Facebook and it makes so much sense. I even wrinkled my nose and turned my head away at the makeup counter! Visit Autism Speaks

M is for Marilyn Monroe

We were in Hollywood, California recently and were watching the stars (on the ground) while walking back to our car.  We walked over Marilyn's and I mentioned I should do her for M since we had a couple of pictures I could use. My dear sweet husband asked if I had her star. When I said no he said we should go back and get it while we were here!

Here is my husband with Marilyn at Madame Tussaunds (on Hollywood Blvd) - different trip

Our daughter is in the funeral industry. In the middle of office buildings in Los Angeles, California, is a Memorial Park that is really park-like and since we'd be nearby, she wanted to go. We saw several office workers come just to eat lunch while we were there. If you're in Los Angeles anyways check it out.
Here's Marilyn's
That's all I have for Marilyn but I did like Don Knotts' grave marker. Someone put A LOT of time into this one.
We wandered around (it isn't that big) to see who else was there. Ray Bradbury had a space reserved. Yes, he's there now but we were there before he was. The earliest marker we found was 1840 to 1912.

My favorite was Judi Craven, owner of The Top Drawer, a sophisticated dress shop on the Sunset Strip. Obituary
