I've been gone a while. I started reading fanfiction to escape and I got sucked in an abyss.

I have no idea if someone else is hosting similar challenges. I just grabbed some of what I have hosted before.

Here's to a happy year of great reading
Jan2023: Not much has changed. Writing a fanfiction now O_o as well as reading but I bought 7 new books in December and hope to get those read soon. Crossing fingers about adding challenges (late!)

Page 57 (last one?)

Pick up a book, any book, and turn to page 57. Tell us what the 5th, 6th and 7th sentences are. Start from the first full sentence and no cheating if they aren't interesting. Don't worry about paragraphs, just three sentences. Link up so we can drop by and don't forget to check out the others. Please tell us title and author, cover graphic would be nice.

The opening notes of "Night Fever" announced a call on her cell. Maddie had been messing with her ring tone again,

Olivia managed, "Hi," before her breathless mother said, "Livie, just finished my kung fu lesson, love to meet for lunch, meet me at Pete's and order me a spinach salad if you get there first.

Cookie Dough or Die by Virginia Lowell
a Cookie Cutter Shop Mystery

I was disappointed at first but notice there is no " at the end. This is a good example of the energy the mother has.

This was fun but I've got a new computer now and can access Freda's Voice so I don't know if I'm going to continue "Page 57". I'll have to see when I want to post "A is for..." and if I want to continue to have a daily post/meme.

If you've enjoyed it, head over to Freda's Voice. Let me know if you want me to continue this here.

"We stood behind a guy who asked the workers to mix flavors for him. I think he wanted chocolate-marshmallow."

"It was chocolate-raspberry," I corrected.

Life in the Pit by Kristen Landon

Well, that was certainly a bust! What have you got?

Just a reminder: This was inspired by Friday 56 but I couldn't find it. I have since been told it's at Freda's Voice. GREAT. Except I've got an older computer and it doesn't load the site well. I'll continue Page 57 for April and see how things go before tell A Novel Challenge. ~ Guess what I got for my birthday?!

"We're having seafood quesadillas tonight," Consuela told them. "And I guarantee, no poison."

The weak attempt at levity fell flat, but after everything that had happened, no one paid much attention to the failed joke.

Killer Crab Cakes, A Fresh-Baked Mystery by Livia J. Washburn

I got lucky on that one! What have you got?
