I've been gone a while. I started reading fanfiction to escape and I got sucked in an abyss.

I have no idea if someone else is hosting similar challenges. I just grabbed some of what I have hosted before.

Here's to a happy year of great reading
Jan2023: Not much has changed. Writing a fanfiction now O_o as well as reading but I bought 7 new books in December and hope to get those read soon. Crossing fingers about adding challenges (late!)

First Impressions of Lemon Tart by Josi S. Kilpack

Why did I purchase/check out/request this book:
LDS* fiction, foodie, cozy mystery, first in a series...

I received a book/gift catalog in the mail that had an interesting cozy mystery, Blackberry Crumble. Oh, that sounds delicious. ;) The description sounded okay but it wasn't the first in the series so off the amazon I went.

Lemon Tart it is.

The police cars show up in chapter one and the body is discovered in chapter two.

Already I know that if Sadie wasn't so nice, everyone would hate her. She lives on the corner of a cul-de-sac with a large window over her kitchen sink overlooking the street. "She liked to watch the comings and goings of the neighborhood." She has a key to everyone's home, except Mr. Henry. Now she is retired and widowed, imagine the time she has to "watch the neighborhood". See? could be creepy is she wasn't so nice. Sadie is mentoring the late single mother and is wondering where Trevor is. He's two.

A Recipe for Murder
5 families living on Peregrine Circle
1 flowered curtain tieback
1 missing child
1 body in the field

Mix with a long list of suspects and top with two very different detectives. Increase heat until only the truth remains.

Oh, the recipe for Mom's Lemon Tart is at the end of chapter one. Off to read. . .

*LDS = Christian Fiction with Latter-day Saint characters/philosophy
