I've been gone a while. I started reading fanfiction to escape and I got sucked in an abyss.

I have no idea if someone else is hosting similar challenges. I just grabbed some of what I have hosted before.

Here's to a happy year of great reading
Jan2023: Not much has changed. Writing a fanfiction now O_o as well as reading but I bought 7 new books in December and hope to get those read soon. Crossing fingers about adding challenges (late!)

Reading Challenge - Seven! Completed

I just finished The Art of the Novella and when I went to tell you, realized that I had missed six others! So, here's a little housekeeping ;)

The Art of the Novella Reading Challenge
August

My original post about the challenge

Quick recap:
read one or more novellas from a specific list

Final List:
The Awakening by Kate Chopin

This was stressful in that I have a bunch of other stuff going on and it is out of my comfort zone. I'm glad I did the challenge, it did whet my appetite for more.

Will I repeat the challenge next year? Not sure it will be repeated but I will keep the list handy.

Romance Reading Challenge
2011

My original post about the challenge

Quick recap:
read and review five romance novels then link them

Final List:
The Christmas Clock
Voice for the Silent
The First Love Cookie Club
The Misfit of Supernatural High
One Weekend

I have no problem reading the required novels. In fact, I LOVE to read romance and have quite a list so far this year. My problem is reviewing the things.

Will I repeat the challenge next year? most likely not.

What's in a Name 4
2011

My original post about the challenge

Quick recap:
read six books that meet specific requirements

Final List:
The First Love Cookie Club
Emeralds and Espionage
Go Small or Go Home
Hawk's Landing
Killer Crab Cakes
Being a Green Mother

I've enjoy this challenge in the past and enjoyed it again this year. One title was a favorite re-read and one was a forgotten re-read. One never would have been purchased (or enjoyed) if not for this challenge

Will I repeat the challenge next year? absolutely

+11 in 11
2011

My original post about the challenge

Quick recap:
Eleven more of something during 2011 than 2010. I choose to do 11 more reviews so I had 13 to do during the year.

Final List: see original post

enjoyed? not so much. I was relieved when I made my decision of what 11 more I was going to do and glad of the kick start to get them completed, but....

Will I repeat the challenge next year? no

These are linked in my mind and as a challenge post

Young Readers
and
Read to Me

2011

My original post about the challenge

Quick recap:
Read children's books

Final List:
see original post
I always join these, or something like them, but this is the first year I've actually completed them.

Will I repeat the challenge next year? not officially - or at least I'll try to remember not to join officially

~*~*and because of challenges completed*~*~

Reading Challenge Addict
2011

My original post about the challenge

Quick recap:
Join and Complete reading challenges during the year. I was silly and said I'd complete 16 even though I'd never completed that many before. I did it!

Final List:
see original post

I thought I had set myself up to fail this one. I have no problem joining challenge, my problem is completing them! I usually end the year with several that only needed one or two titles.

Will I repeat the challenge next year? Yes but with a smaller number

Reading Challenge Young Readers and Read to Me

I love picture books! My "baby" may be over 20 years old now but I purchased a new picture book just last month. And yeah, he rolls his eyes when I say "my baby" ;)

I have a perpetual challenge going and thought I'd add these two challenges to 2011 to help me with it.

Young Readers
Jan 1 to Dec 31
2011

  • Read 12 Children's Books
Think of this as referring to the "E" (Easy) and "J" (Juvenile or Junior) sections of the library.
  • You do not have to have a blog.
  • You may keep in touch and leave links to your reviews. *But* no reviews are required.
  • A list is not required. Choose what you like. Choose as you go. Or plan it all out now. Whatever you want.
  • Sign up by leaving a comment.

  • Read to Me
    January 1 to Dec 31
    2011

  • The objective of the Read to Me Challenge is to read with the kiddos in your life and/or enjoy picture books in general.
  • Books must be ones written expressly for children ages 9 and under. Board books, early readers, picture books, etc.
  • Print or eBook format is acceptable.
  • Anyone can join. You don’t have to be a blogger, and you don’t have to live in the United States. Open worldwide.
  • You do not have to have an blog to participate.
  • You can join at anytime. Deadline to join is November 20, 2011. (not 2010 you still have PLENTY of time to sign up!)

  • All of the books for "Young Readers" also count towards "Read to Me" but not the other way around! There are several levels for Read to Me and I choose to be Board Book and will read 12 books. The ones that don't count towards "Young Reader", plus any read over 12, will be listed from #13....

    1. Kekula
    2. A Bed Case of Stripes
    3. If You Give a Mouse a Cookie
    4. Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?
    5. If a Dog Could Blog
    6. The Bear Detectives
    7. Red in the Flower Bed
    8. Cookie's Week
    9. The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything
    10. The Fire Cat
    11. Dinosaurs Before Dark
    12. The Knight at Dawn

    ~Both Challenges Completed~

    14. Let's Go!

    16.
    17.
    18.
    19.
    20.
