I've been gone a while. I started reading fanfiction to escape and I got sucked in an abyss.

I have no idea if someone else is hosting similar challenges. I just grabbed some of what I have hosted before.

Here's to a happy year of great reading
Jan2023: Not much has changed. Writing a fanfiction now O_o as well as reading but I bought 7 new books in December and hope to get those read soon. Crossing fingers about adding challenges (late!)

Truth is Stranger than Fiction

It seems simple enough. Read five non-fiction books and I've already read three. EXCEPT the time frame is May 1 to September 30 and only one of my books fit. Even with the wedding & other stuff, I'm going to try this. I need several more NF for another challenge and there are three waiting for me at the library!

Trish is hosting this here so stop by and check it out.

Here are her rules:

The Rules (unchanged from previous years)

1. Read 5 non-fiction books during the months of May - September, 2009 (please link your reviews on Mister Linky each month; Mister Linky can be found each month on this blog)

2. Read at least one non-fiction book that is different from your other choices (i.e.: 4 memoirs and 1 self-help)

3. If interested, please sign up below with the link to your NFF Challenge post (all choices do not need to be posted and may change at any time)

Jan: And Tango Makes Three (animal > family life) reviewed
Feb: Mistaken Identity (memoir) reviewed

1. After Etan (true crime) reviewed
2. Fit or Fat (health/self-help)
3. Fearless (inspiration) reviewed
4. Soft Spots
5, The Dog Who Rescues Cats (finished 9-25)

edited 8-24: Fearless (must review), Always Looking Up, Soft Spots (must review), Fit or Fat

edited 9-20: Just to clean it up some. Soft Spots review goes live on the 27th. I'm currently reading The Man Who Loved Books Too Much but don't know if it will be finished/reviewed before the 30th. I've also started Always Looking Up

I learned a lot of things so far this year about blogging and challenges in particular. And while this was an interesting challenge, I won't be joining again in 2010 (famous last words?). I'll continue to read non-fiction and have a goal of reading 12 during the year, just don't need the pressure of the five during the summer.

edited again 10-11: The Man Who was finished on 10-1 but I did finish reading the Dog Who Rescues Cats on the 25 so I got my five in. I just didn't get them reviewed.

Even though I failed miserably with my first reading challenge, I've been considering this one. I'll think about a couple more days.

P.S. I have an award for you over at my blog.
