I've been gone a while. I started reading fanfiction to escape and I got sucked in an abyss.

I have no idea if someone else is hosting similar challenges. I just grabbed some of what I have hosted before.

Here's to a happy year of great reading
Jan2023: Not much has changed. Writing a fanfiction now O_o as well as reading but I bought 7 new books in December and hope to get those read soon. Crossing fingers about adding challenges (late!)

Waiting on Wednesday: The Lost Symbol

Jill at Breaking the Spine hosts "Waiting On" Wednesday, a weekly event that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating. I'm going to try doing this one....

My book this week (and my husband's!) is Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol. Dan Brown's Robert Langdon is back! per Random House: The Lost Symbol will be published in the U.S. and Canada by Doubleday on September 15, 2009. The audio version will be published in North America in September. The Lost Symbol will be published in the U.K on September 15th as well. I didn't see mention of our friends down under. The first print will be 5 million copies so we should all be able to get ours.

Brown's longtime editor, Jason Kaufman, Vice President and Executive Editor at Doubleday said, "Nothing ever is as it first appears in a Dan Brown novel. This book's narrative takes place in a twelve-hour period, and from the first page, Dan's readers will feel the thrill of discovery as they follow Robert Langdon through a masterful and unexpected new landscape. The Lost Symbol is full of surprises."

"This novel has been a strange and wonderful journey," said Brown. "Weaving five years of research into the story's twelve-hour timeframe was an exhilarating challenge. Robert Langdon's life clearly moves a lot faster than mine."

I'm trying to decide if I want to pre-order it or wait until I see it at Costco. Costco has great deals on books but there is no guarantee that they will have this one (ya, right).

I will probably get this one too. I expect it will be everywhere with all the hype it's getting. I enjoyed The DaVinci Code but still have not read Angels and Demons.
