I've been gone a while. I started reading fanfiction to escape and I got sucked in an abyss.

I have no idea if someone else is hosting similar challenges. I just grabbed some of what I have hosted before.

Here's to a happy year of great reading
Jan2023: Not much has changed. Writing a fanfiction now O_o as well as reading but I bought 7 new books in December and hope to get those read soon. Crossing fingers about adding challenges (late!)

Back of book:
"I need you to trust me."

Impossible! Sheriff Christine Norris still remembers the heartache from the last time she gave Special Agent Wyatt Green her trust. And she certainly doesn't believe him now, when he claims some of the residents are involved in a dangerous militia. But Christine can't ignore the fact that someone who may be tied to the militia has kidnapped an innocent boy. and when she's almost killed in a fiery explosion, Christine realizes Wyatt may be the only person she can trust to protect her. Even if she's still not sure she can trust him again with her heart...

My thoughts
Remote Eastern Montana, a kidnapped boy, her life on the line. Can you feel the suspense? I haven't even started the book yet but I'm ready to jump in if she needs me.

Let's get started . . .
".... The evidence is what it is. Clearly there is a subversive element in Roosevelt and they are teaching young boys how to build bombs." She walked over to the window and stared at the street outside as people bustled by. " The good guys do look exactly like the bad guys. Now I don't know who to trust or suspect."
back to reading . . .

I'm not sure what to say. It seems that people have been hiding true feelings inside this small-town-everybody-is-your-friend community. And just because this is an "inspirational" romance doesn't mean there isn't sexual tension, it's just portrayed differently, and there are hugs and kisses.

Well, hiding out while being shot at almost demanded a hug. After all, you are trying to be as small a target as possible ;-)

I've still got 86 pages to read and so far there has been a car bomb, a house fire, and the attempted murder of a Federal Agent by Bull as well as bullet, a couple of ambushes. All this and the people still harbor a grudge from 10 years ago and won't speak to the Feds. And to top it off, the Sheriff's husband may have been murdered and we're no closer to finding the poor boy they came for!

There's another kidnapping and heart pounding hostage situations. But when push comes to shove, widows were willing to let them use the phone or stay the night. Those cinnamon rolls sound good right about now.
