I've been gone a while. I started reading fanfiction to escape and I got sucked in an abyss.

I have no idea if someone else is hosting similar challenges. I just grabbed some of what I have hosted before.

Here's to a happy year of great reading
Jan2023: Not much has changed. Writing a fanfiction now O_o as well as reading but I bought 7 new books in December and hope to get those read soon. Crossing fingers about adding challenges (late!)

Christmas can be lonely if you’re new in town—unless a lost kitten shows up on your doorstep and makes your wishes come true.

My Thoughts
The is a very short story, more of an introduction to a romance than a romance itself.

I could feel the loneliness dripping from the pages. She's always gone home for Christmas before, she doesn't have her own ornaments or even a live tree. She does remember seeing a church on her way home from work so that's how she'll spend the evening. At the Christmas Eve services.
Day was already fading into evening. The falling snow glittered in the light of the street lamps, coating the parking lot in fairy dust. She should walk down to the mailboxes and get her mail. Maybe there’d be more Christmas cards to hang on the half wall, make it seem more like Christmas.

After rinsing her glass and putting on her coat, Stephanie opened her front door.
“Mew.”
A small grey cat, about half-past being a kitten, sat on her doorstep, looking up at her with pleading eyes.
And she does what anyone with heart would do and brings the kitten inside.

Next up are conversations with the cat, several phone calls, feeding the kitten and finally locking it in the bathroom when she decides to go to church.

Since I already told you it was a romance I can also say she finds the owner of the cat at church. It was a total fluke, or meant to be, you decide.

This is a very sweet story and I would love to find out what happens next.
