I've been gone a while. I started reading fanfiction to escape and I got sucked in an abyss.

I have no idea if someone else is hosting similar challenges. I just grabbed some of what I have hosted before.

Here's to a happy year of great reading
Jan2023: Not much has changed. Writing a fanfiction now O_o as well as reading but I bought 7 new books in December and hope to get those read soon. Crossing fingers about adding challenges (late!)

Off topic - Texting Rant

I have gmail. This is only important because of the links they run across the top of my inbox. Tonight was an interesting link to a reuters article.

I do not want more government in my life and wish they'd step out of some of the places they are and if they stay - FIX IT. But this one? I'm all for. Texting while driving. ~shudder~

"... 17-year-old Anna Hauer, says she often texts her boyfriend when she drives and doubts she or her friends would stop because of new legislation.

"By the time they pull you over, the chances are you are going to be done with your text anyway so they can't exactly prove that you were texting," she said."

Sure, they can't see the phone but while you're watching your phone you aren't watching the road! Do you think you are immortal? Fine, but what about the other guy? Do you think you're so careful that you're not going to hit something? SomeONE?

I know that not all distracted drivers text. Some are searching for a CD or a baby bottle, grabbing their lipstick or shaver or any number of things but this is a simple things. And if it's a law and you're in an accident, searching for cell phone records ought to be automatic. Text calls show up different than voice and you should have a stiffer penalty if texting while driving was involved, not just caused, in an accident.

I agree wholeheartedly. Using the phone while driving is banned in England...yet a taxi driver did it while I was in the car. I wasn't entirely happy.

It's the same here in Malaysia but you will still see it happen. Sigh~~
