The are a lot of reading challenges based on the to-b-read pile/list. I'm starting with Beat the Backlist.

Goal: Review 6. I'm hoping I'll get more read but I have trouble with the reviews to I'll commit to six . . . and hope I get 12 ;-)

I don't think I even made it through January but I'm going for all three months and will make exceptions for ebooks, new releases, and ARCs.

Basically, read the books you already own, in the format that you primarily read from. I read print and ebooks so an audio book wouldn't count for this. Library books do not count. Re-reads are a special circumstance - check the sign up page. Books must be purchased prior to 2016, I need to ask about pre-orders. ;-)  There are several levels but I'm going for Mount Blanc and hope to read 24 books. I've got so many books on my TBR pile I'm not going to try to list any of them, I really should go for Mount Olympus (Mars) and read 150+!  All books, purchased or gifts, count. Not sure about review books but they were given to me and I do own them now. . .

I'm going to include any book, arc too, that has been on my tbr pile before January 1st. For the first week of the year, I read NONE of them. sigh I also got two new books in the mail and purchased several ebooks. This is why my TBR pile doesn't get any smaller. With so many challenges, I should be able to get one of them completed!

The TBR Dare is back again for a third year; except this time it's much more intense.  It's not just a dare, it's a double dog dare.  Dakota and I double dog dare you to join in the fun...

and so the post goes. C.B. is funny and you need to read the whole post to truly experience it. I can read book club books (na), library books if requested before the first, books ordered but not received before the first and my exception books.

Since a picture book ruined my challenge last year, the day before I would have finished it, I making an exception. Well, two exceptions.

How long can I go with out reading a new book? Sigh. I don't believe I can make it the full four months. I do believe, with the above exceptions I can make it thru January. I need a challenge but not a built-in failure so I'm going for . . .

 Six Weeks

and plan to read only from my TBR pile (with exceptions) from Jan 1 to Feb 11. Maybe I'll get a new book for Valentine's Day ;-)

Reading My Own Books

Welcome to Mt. TBR

At this time, I have boxes of books in a storage unit. They've been listed at Library Thing and have a somewhat method to the boxing but not really. This isn't even all of them! A lot of these have been read at least once already but the goal is to read all the ones that have been purchased but not read....To Be Read.

I found some challenges to help me with this!




Challenge 1: Mt. TBR

Time frame: 2012

Basic requirements: No books from 2012, purchased or gifts. No library books, re-reads or ARCs. There are several levels (12, 25, 40, 50, 75, 100) corresponding with a mountains. I'm going for Mt. Vancouver and hope to read 25 books.

Challenge 2: Read Your Own Books

Time frame: 2012

Basic requirements: Any book that you have personally purchased, been gifted, or swapped, BEFORE January 1, 2012 and just have not gotten the chance to read yet. NO ARCs, library books, re-reads or books purchased in 2012. There are four levels but I'm going for level 1 and hope to read 1-5 books.

Challenge 3:Off the Shelf!

Time frame: 2012

Basic requirements: No books from 2012, purchased or gifts. No library books, re-reads or ARCs. Crossover challenges are fine, you can change levels at any time, this is eBook, short story, and graphic novel friendly,There are several levels (5, 15, 30, 50, 75, 76-135, 136-200). I'm going for trying and hope to read 15 books.

Challenge 4: The TBR Double Dare

Time frame: Jan 1 to Apr 1 , or goal of your choice.

Basic requirements: Make a resolution to read only the books in your To Be Read stack from January 1, 2012 to April 1. Can you survive? Nope! Didn't even make it to six books last year! This year, my goal is 30 Days, except for review/tour books and The Capture of the Earl of Glencrae.

This one will be hard even though I've joined a similar challenge, I've got a book I'm itching to re-read. I'm going to count my review books since they are in my TBR pile and were received in 2010 but I'm not going to count my new non-mainstream ebooks.
