I've been gone a while. I started reading fanfiction to escape and I got sucked in an abyss.

I have no idea if someone else is hosting similar challenges. I just grabbed some of what I have hosted before.

Here's to a happy year of great reading
Jan2023: Not much has changed. Writing a fanfiction now O_o as well as reading but I bought 7 new books in December and hope to get those read soon. Crossing fingers about adding challenges (late!)

Terrific Tuesday

The Cat's Meow

Hosted at Bibliophile by the Sea
Every Tuesday, she'll be posting the opening paragraph (maybe two) of her current read. Why don't you join us?

Peter Gabler's confident stride slowed as he approached the "Hub of the Center of the Universe." He scowled. How like Bostonians to inflate their own pretensions. He was a proud down-easter himself, like his ships, and it went against his grain to come calling, hat in hand, at this elite center of an elite town of an elite state. Still, he had to go where the money was. Dreams were worth a high price-even groveling.

But he didn't have to like it.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme,
hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
1. Grab your current read Open to a random page
2. Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page ~BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS!~ make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!
3. Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

The story takes place in 1889

Newspaper ad:
To persons of good character, free feline to stable home. Chosen applicants will be given $10,000 to begin new business. Interview mandatory. Acceptance sole prerogative of current owner, but each applicant must agree to take exemplary care of the cat for so long as the animal lives.

What a teaser! I can't figure out where the story will go from there. Good choice; enjoy it!

A widow places the ad. Each story is of who comes calling and their experience with the cats. It is a paranormal, guess I should have mentioned that earlier. The new owner of the cat receives a book of instructions that I wish I could have (with cute pictures)!

It isn't nearby and that's all I can remember without spoiling the whole thing.

That's an interesting intro... it has me curious about the story.

The intro and the teaser combined have me curious about this one. I love short stories that interconnect and tell a bigger story. I'll have to look for this one.

Like that intro. I'd read more Gina. Thanks for joining us. (We have an all black cat named Buddy. He use t be indoor/outdoor, but for the last 5 years is indoor only - we did not want him using up his 9 nine lives sooner than expected:)
