I've been gone a while. I started reading fanfiction to escape and I got sucked in an abyss.

I have no idea if someone else is hosting similar challenges. I just grabbed some of what I have hosted before.

Here's to a happy year of great reading
Jan2023: Not much has changed. Writing a fanfiction now O_o as well as reading but I bought 7 new books in December and hope to get those read soon. Crossing fingers about adding challenges (late!)

Terrific Tuesday

Last Wool and Testament

Hosted at Bibliophile by the Sea
Every Tuesday, she'll be posting the opening paragraph (maybe two) of her current read. Why don't you join us?

It wasn't how I'd planned to spend my thirty-ninth birthday, driving like a crazed woman from Richmond, Virginia, to a cemetery in the mountains of east Tennessee. But I straightened the curves and flattened the verdant hills along I-81 through the Shenandoah Valley with sacrilegious fevor, willing both my car and myself not to break down. Tears and taking a hand off the wheel long enough to hunt for Kleenex at that speed would be disastrous.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme,
hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
1. Grab your current read Open to a random page
2. Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page ~BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS!~ make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!
3. Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This one is longer than I like but Mel is a talker.

"I think it's bizarre. Emmett Cobb? Someone felt strongly enough to kill that dried up speck of a man? Why?"

"He didn't have any enemies?"

"Only the was a mangy possum does. but you throw a shoe at it. You don't poison it. There was a lot of shock and shriek when it happened. You know the kind of thing: 'We'll all be killed in our beds?'" She waved her hands and goggled her eyes in mock terror. "And there's still some of that because no one's been arrested. But to be honest, maybe brutally honest-" She shrugged. "Okay, to be cynical-most people don't care."

"What do you mean?"

"They don't care that Em is dead. They were het up because someone was murdered, but not because it was Emmett Cobb."

Looks like a cozy mystery. I have read some from time to time. I like the setting. It should make the story even more interesting for you. Enjoy this!

I enjoy cozy mysteries, so this sounds like a book I'd like. Poor Emmett Cobb -- nobody cared!
My Teaser is from AFTER ALL THESE YEARS.
