I've been gone a while. I started reading fanfiction to escape and I got sucked in an abyss.

I have no idea if someone else is hosting similar challenges. I just grabbed some of what I have hosted before.

Here's to a happy year of great reading
Jan2023: Not much has changed. Writing a fanfiction now O_o as well as reading but I bought 7 new books in December and hope to get those read soon. Crossing fingers about adding challenges (late!)

1st Quarter Reading Report and H is for . . .

Wednesdays posts are usually an anything goes kind of thing, today I have a quarterly reading report.

Strawberries and bananas, what could go wrong?

Groovie Smoothie
original recipe found here

2 servings

Ingredients

2 small bananas, broken into chunks
1 cup frozen unsweetened strawberries
1 (8 ounce) container vanilla low-fat yogurt
3/4 cup milk

Directions

In a blender, combine bananas, frozen strawberries, yogurt and milk. Blend until smooth. Pour into glasses and serve.

I'm going to add a scoop of protein powder to it. Maybe ice

update: I used coconut milk, blackberries instead of strawberries, added the protein powder and ice. Also some leaves from a package of baby spinach & kale. Beautiful purple color, didn't taste the greens at all and made more than 2 servings - I think it is the addition of the ice. I had a full glass and put three cups in the freezer. It will be interesting to see how they freeze up.

is for . . . Hollywood

When we went to Disneyland on Monday, we also "park-hopped" to California Adventures. I didn't go on it Monday but have recently. A cousin was in town and we rode it together. We talked the whole time we were waiting in line. We were in the front of the car, all strapped in, when I looked at her and said, "I hate you". She just smiled and said I know.
Hollywood Tower of Terror

The burned looking spots are doors that open up. You start at the bottom of an elevator, climb to the top and the door opens to show you just how far up you are. It jumps a little in the drops before going all the way back down. I had a necklace on, about a 24" one and it was floating up so much I thought it was going to come off! I ended the ride holding it in my mouth because my hands were holding onto the ride.
Yes, that is THE Hollywood sign.

We spent the day in Hollywood on vacation one year (wait for the V is for . . . post).

The closer photos don't look as good.
To go along with Disneyland

Did you know the fans pay to have the stars placed on the "Walk of Fame"?

This is Grauman's Chinese Theatre. I wasn't able to get better pictures, it was blocked off so they could get ready for a show. I think it was the American Idol finale.

~*~*~

I posted January's report but forgot about February and now it is April so I might as well post quarterly figures.

  • Total ISBN/equivalent: 101 (yes, some of these were short)
  • Total pages read: 20,594
  • Reviews posted: 2
  • library books: 7
  • review books: 1
  • picture books: 1
  • other PB&J books: 2
  • non-fiction: 0
  • new-to-me (any format): 55
  • re-reads (any format): 46
  • to-be-read: 9

I'm thrilled with the page count (goal for year: 50,000) and the total number (goal for year: 200) but not so thrilled with the details! I should have read at least 3 non-fiction books by now, I'm 2 behind on my library books, and so many books behind on my reviews I don't want to count. I'm not thrilled with how many I've read from my tbr pile (goal for year: 21 minimum), that thing is so big it is ready to topple.
