I've been gone a while. I started reading fanfiction to escape and I got sucked in an abyss.

I have no idea if someone else is hosting similar challenges. I just grabbed some of what I have hosted before.

Here's to a happy year of great reading
Jan2023: Not much has changed. Writing a fanfiction now O_o as well as reading but I bought 7 new books in December and hope to get those read soon. Crossing fingers about adding challenges (late!)

Happy Monday on Sunday

Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week.

Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.

Don't forget to link up your list

~ here are the new books in my house this week ~

My Morning View by Tammy Strobel (blog: RowdyKittens)
An iPhone Photography Project about Gratitude, Grief and Good Coffee
nonfiction, 2014, paperback

After her step-dad, Mahlon, died, Tammy Strobel coped with grief and depression by going for daily walks. One day, Tammy came home from her walk with a new idea. She would start an iPhone photography project that included two passions Mahlon and she shared: coffee and the great outdoors. She called her project My Morning View. In this book, Tammy shares her story, photography tips, and a brief how-to guide. She reminds us that even when everything seems to be falling apart, we can find beauty and practice gratitude every day.

A Biscuit, A Casket by Liz Mugavreo
A Pawsitively Organic Mystery, 2014, mass market paperback

The small town of Frog Ledge, Connecticut, has wholeheartedly embraced Kristan "Stan" Connor's new business--preparing quality organic treats for dogs and cats. On a healthy diet, the animals may live longer. . .but one local farmer won't be so lucky.

As Halloween approaches, Stan is asked to cater a doggie costume party hosted by the Happy Cow Dairy Farm. Part of a local co-op, Happy Cow specializes in organic dairy products, and farmers Hal and Emmalee Hoffman have started opening up the farm for parties, offering a "haunted" corn maze as an added attraction.

When Hal's lifeless body is found in the maze, the police at first suspect his wife, but Stan soon learns the dairy farmer had plenty of enemies--from bitter family members to shady business associates. If Stan can't extract a kernel of truth from the labyrinth of lies, she may be the next one to buy the farm. . .

I haven't received any review books, won any contests or received any books as a gift. I have added several to my ereader, most were even free.

added to my ereader: (kindle app, html, etc.) ~ I find out about free/discounted ebooks at amazon mostly from Pixel of Ink. I do go through the Top 100 at amazon once in a while. I'm getting better at pinning my new ebooks, 2014's books

I always get a kick out of those cute cozy mysteries titles and covers.
I am trying to determine if I have read something by Mercedes Lackey or why the name is so familiar. Her works look like something I would enjoy.
Hope you have a fun reading week.

My husband bought The Hot Zone for me years and years ago. I still remember that it scared me to death! Mostly because it was true. Enjoy your week!
