I've been gone a while. I started reading fanfiction to escape and I got sucked in an abyss.

I have no idea if someone else is hosting similar challenges. I just grabbed some of what I have hosted before.

Here's to a happy year of great reading
Jan2023: Not much has changed. Writing a fanfiction now O_o as well as reading but I bought 7 new books in December and hope to get those read soon. Crossing fingers about adding challenges (late!)

Fitness Friday

After my summer health scare, I've had to reevaluate how much I read. I know there is life outside of books but dang it, a week in ICU was not a good way to hit me upside the head with it.

Oh, wait. Maybe it was.

The good news is that except for meds and being afraid to really push it at the gym, I seem to be back to the way I was. I'm working on the afraid part.

So to help with the health issues and keep all my stuff in one place, Friday is going to be an off topic day of health, food, exercise, goals . . . stuff like that.

I'll find/make a cute picture to bring it all together but for now I'll leave you with a post from April 2008.

If I'm not fat, who am I?

Great title, huh? Thanks J!

I've met a man. We have similar goals, frustrations, struggles and relationships but we are different people. For one, he's in New York and I'm in California. He's 20-something, I'm 40-something. He's gay & I'm not, but that just means we like the same eye candy. Both of us are in a relationship with the love of our life but worry that our partner just doesn't find us attractive anymore. I didn't have a weight problem until after high school but he's been overweight all this life - so really, we've been fat the same number of years. I'm hoping that by reading his blog, following his journey and interacting with him, we can help each other.

I've tried Jenny Craig & Weight Watchers but can't think of any others right now. I do know that I didn't binge & purge, exercise excessively, or starve myself. I also didn't try diet pills, although they were very tempting.

I've read books and bought videos but I haven't buckled down and done it. So I'm wondering, what will I be like once I am "slim, sleek, and sexy"? How differently will I dress? How will I act? Why am I afraid of my skinny side? Good heavens, what will my swimsuit look like??

Sure, there are activities that I'd like to do then that I don't do now. One is dancing. But I'd also like to hike the National Parks.

There are many outfits that are skimpy but I, think, I just want to enjoy shopping again. I'd like to see something and not wonder if it comes big enough, will it look like a tent.

So off I am to the library, my bookshelves and the internet, for information on what I'm supposed to be eating. If I pass math & take the next math class this summer, I'll take Nutrition for Fitness in the fall.

So for now, I'm walking as fast as I can, for as far as I can, for as long as I can. And then doing it again tomorrow. I've got to be able to do 3 mph for five hours a week so I can increase my speed. Goal? Average 13 minute miles, regularly.

I've got to get some pictures together & do a goal post.

The New York guy isn't posting anymore. Tried WW again. Have added to my video/equipment stash. Working on that walking thing ;-)
