I got 6 read during 2015, so I'm going to challenge myself and go for Sous-Chef and hope to read 9 - 13 books!

Basic Rules: Read books which are centered around food and/or drinks. That could be a cookbook, a food biography or memoir, a non-fiction book focused around a specific food, wine, chef or restaurant, or a fictional story in which food plays a major role. (Cozies are a good one for this!) There are five levels and while I have many books on my TBR shelf that count, I didn't get them read this year. . . don't know if I'll get them read next year. :-(

Included is how to write a meal plan, money saving strategies, 15 basic recipes, and there is even a section on how to utilize freezer cooking as a weight loss tool. If you're looking for a quick read, and an introduction into the world of make-ahead meals then this book is the perfect place to get started. Written with the beginning freezer cook in mind.

This was fun! She literally goes through the alphabet (Baked Goods, Food Safety, Ice Cream won't fit, Quick Cooking Tips) while explaining how she does freezer cooking. What works for her, what doesn't.

She even includes some of her families favorite recipes that freeze well. That's one of the main tips, if it doesn't freeze well, why use it?

I'm not sure how this will work with my family, she uses a lot of potatoes and I'm Diabetic but she gives me a good base to start. And the encouragement to start small. Sure having 30 different meals in my freezer would be great but just having an extra one or two is a good place to start.

I did Nibbler (1-3) last year because I didn't know how many food related books I would read. Turns out, quite a few! Many of my cozy mysteries are food related so this year I'm bumping up a level.

Reading Challenge Foodie's

I'm not a snob about my food, or my reading, and don't consider myself a foodie but when my second book of the year has "cookie" in the title, I figured I'd give this one a try. After all, who doesn't love to eat?

Challenge is being hosted by Margot of Joyfully Retired at Foodie's Reading Challenge.

Should be fun and it looks like Margot has put a lot of thought behind the challenge. There are several food related levels, I'm going for Nibbler, and quarterly PRIZES!
